Il-chool, 75, who was forced to become a sex slave for the Japanese
army during World War II, during a protest near the presidential Blue
House in Seoul June 9, 2003. Dozens of former South Korean comfort
women and their supporters demanded that South Korean President Roh
Moo-hyun ask Tokyo to apologise and indemnify South Korean victims who
suffered under Japan's coercive colonialisation during 1910-1945.
