SOUTH KOREAN WORKERS PROTEST IN SEOUL.
South Korean workers from the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) chant slogans, holding placards reading "five working days a week in 2000" during a protest rally in front of the National Assembly in Seoul December 18. The union want the government to overturn an amendment to the labor law that would no longer require companies to pay salaries to full-time union officials. They are also calling for a reduction of working hours to 40 from 44 that would allow them to take Saturdays off.
