Lee Yong-soo, 71, a former "comfort woman" who was forced into sexual slavery for Japanese soldiers during World War II, shouts anti-Japanese slogans during a rally in front of the Japanese Embassy in Seoul on October 20. About one hundred protesters voiced their strong opposition to a possible visit by Japanese Emperor Akihito to South Korea in the new millennium, before receiving compensation and a formal apology from the Japanese government.
