PROTESTERS SCUFFLE WITH RIOT POLICE NEAR THE U.S. EMBASSY IN SEOUL.
Protesters scuffle with riot police near the U.S. embassy in Seoul
January 15, 2002. About 200 protesters including striking workers at
Daewoo Motor Sales Co revealed that they will attempt to block U.S.
President George W. Bush's visit to South Korea, planned for next
month. They also asked not to sell the automaker to General Motors and
to stop lay-offs. Daewoo Motor Sales Co is planning to lay off 393
people, or 12.3 percent of its workforce, in February to cut losses.
