Police push protesters to suppress them as they use a water canon on protesters during a rally demanding the renegotiation of the U.S. beef import deal, near the presidential Blue House in Seoul June 1, 2008. A new deal has been agreed which allows all cuts of U.S. beef to be imported to South Korea. Tens of thousands of people, fearing an outbreak of mad cow disease, demanded President Lee Myung-bak resign at the rally lasted from Saturday afternoon till Sunday morning. The country will start quarantine inspections on U.S. beef, which will lead to a full resumption of the beef imports this week for the first time since an outbreak of mad cow disease in the U.S. in 2003.
