LIBERIANS CELEBRATE ANTICIPATED ARRIVAL OF PEACEKEEPERS IN MONROVIA.
Liberian's in the West Point district of Monrovia, which has suffered
from recent rocket attacks, celebrate the anticipated arrival of West
African peacekeeping troops August 4, 2003. The troops, who arrived
later on Monday, were the first wave of an expected 1,500
Nigerian troops, who had been part of a U.N. force in Sierra Leone.
Diplomats said a second batch of 300 were due in on Wednesday with the
rest following soon after.
