LIBERIAN WOMAN WALKS ON STREET IN NEW KRU TOWN.
A Liberian woman walks on a street in New Kru Town, July 5, 2003, which is situated between Saint Paul Bridge and the capital Monrovia, and has been the center of fierce
battles between rebels and government forces in recent fighting. The
population is fearful that the swift exit demanded of President Charles
Taylor by U.S. President George W. Bush could unleash chaos in the
broken country, but West African nations have pledged 3,000 soldiers
for a peacekeeping force, and have asked for contributions from South
Africa, Morocco and the United States to make a total of 5,000. Reuters
