Malaysian riot police stand guard outside Kamunting detention camp as a
vehicle is stop at the entrance, 280 kilometres (175 miles) from Kuala
Lumpur in northern Perak state. Kamunting is at the heart of Malaysia's
Internal Security Act (ISA), which empowers police to detain people
indefinitely without trial. Kamunting detention camp is where Malaysia

militant group whose top operatives are allegedly linked to Osama bin
Laden. Picture taken June 1, 2003. TO ACCOMPANY FEATURE MALAYSIA-CAMP
