Chinese Malaysians walk on burning charcoal on the last day of the Nine Emperor Gods festival in Kuala Lumpur. Chinese Malaysians walk on burning charcoal on the last day of the Nine Emperor Gods festival in Kuala Lumpur October 22, 2004. The festival welcomes the Nine Emperor Gods, believed to live in the stars under the reign of "Thien Hou" or the "Queen of Heaven", who brings good fortune, longevity and good health. During the festival, celebrated on the first nine days of the ninth month in Chinese lunar calendar, the constant tinkling of prayer bells and chants from the temple priests are heard. Most devotees stay at the temple, consume vegetarian meals and recite continuous prayers but end on the ninth day with fire-walking. Picture taken on October 22, 2004. REUTERS/Bazuki Muhammad
