Would -be immigrants rest inside a dock building at the port of Nouadhibou
Would -be immigrants rest inside a dock building at the port of Nouadhibou, February 14, 2007. A boat carrying up to 400 African and Asian migrants docked in northern Mauritania on Monday and began disembarking its passengers into Spanish police custody, witnesses said. The operation in the Mauritanian port of Nouadhibou had been agreed between Mauritania's government and Spain, whose coastguard intercepted the battered Marine 1 freighter off West Africa as it headed towards the Spanish Canary islands.
