HUNDREDS OF TZOTZIL INDIAS WALKS THROUGH THE CHIAPAS COUNTRYSIDE AFTER
LEAVING A REFUGEE CAMP.
Hundreds of Tzotzil Indians and aid workers trek through the Chiapan
countryside after leaving a refugee camp in Chollep and then returning
to their abandoned houses in the villages of Chenalho, located in the
Mexican state of Chiapas, August 28, 2001. The villagers had fled their
homes in December 1997 after dozens of Indians were killed by
paramilitary gunmen in nearby Acteal.
