CHILDREN OF YOUNG STREETGIRLS PLAY IN CASA DAYA SHELTER.
TO MATCH STORY BC-MEXICO-STREETCHILDREN - Mexican children of young streetgirls play around in the Casa Daya shelter, December 8 in Mexico City. The fate for thousands of Mexican children who flee abuse at home is only to find unthinkable levels of exploitation in the street. Many are trapped into prostitution and drug abuse virtually from the moment they leave home, where they had faced physical, sexual or emotional abuse. Conservative estimates say there are more than 13,000 "street children" in Mexico City, 90 percent of whom become victims of some type of sexual abuse.
