A group of indigenous Mexican Mazahuas from the State of Mexico protest in Mexicos City's main square, February 1, 2005. The Mazahuas are protesting against damage caused to their land west of the capital by dams created to help supply water to the capital. The protest movement was initially headed by male members of the Mazahua community, but after nobody took any notice of them the Mazahua women took over the fight by forming the "Army of Zapatista Women for the defense of water", an all-female army bearing makeshift and vintage wooden rifles.
