A mortar is fired by rebel fighters towards forces loyal to Syria's President Bashar al-Assad in the al-Malah area in Aleppo's countryside December 16, 2014. Syria's army seized an area north of Aleppo on Sunday and killed insurgents as fierce battles raged over the strategic territory, a group monitoring the war and state media reported.
