ISRAELI TASTE AT THE GOLAN WINERY AT KATZERIN ON THE GOLAN HEIGHTS.
FOR RELEASE WITH GENERAL FEATURE BC-MIDEAST-GOLAN - Israelis lift their glasses as they take part in a wine tasting at the close of a tour of the Golan Winery. Israeli tourism to the Golan Heights has increased since Israel and Syria began their negotiations on reaching a peace deal. The Golan Winery in 1999 pumped some $2.5 million into a five-year expansion project including expanding its vineyards by 950 dunams (240 acres) and its annual ouput from four to six million bottles. Many large businesses on the Golan are very concerned what will happen should Israel and Syria make peace and the Golan Heights be returned to Syrian rule. Picture taken February 10.
