ISRAELIS GRAB FOR FOOD HANDED OUT BY MUNICIPAL WORKERS IN KIRYAT SHEMONA.
Israelis reach out to grab a box of children's breakfast cereal handed out from the rear of a military truck by municipal workers February 9 evening. Israelis for the third night are staying in underground bomb shelters after the government declared a state of emergency and ordered all residents who have not left town to stay in shelters. All shops are closed in this town along Israel's northern border with Lebanon. Israeli warplanes struck targets in Lebanon last night and the army shelled southern Lebanon with artillery as tensions increase and concerns are high that the pro-Iranian and Syrian-backed Hizbollah guerrilla forces in south Lebanon will strike back at northern Israeli towns with rocket attacks.
