Eleven-year-old Palestinian boy Jehid Abu Shehmah is examined by doctors upon his arrival at the main hospital in Gaza November 15, 2000. Jehid was shot through the head with a high velocity bullet by Israeli snipers which caused a "brain contusion", the medical term for a crushed brain. Doctors said there was no more hope for Jehid and would die in the next 24 hours. Palestinian hospital officials said some 7,000 Palestinians have been wounded in the violence, more than 40 percent of them under the age of 18 and at least 222 people, again most of them Palestinians, have been killed in the unrest.
