Palestinian prisoners belonging to the Islamic militant groups Hamas
and Islamic Jihad run out of the jail in the West Bank city of Hebron
January 11, 2002 as about 500 Palestinians stormed the jail to free
them. The incident was the latest in a series of attacks on prisons by
Palestinians who say they fear Israeli air attacks on Palestinian
security compounds will spread to adjacent prisons where dozens of
