Palestinian mother Miriam Jafra holds her infant Amir while her
three-year old son Mahmoud looks on as they wait for treatment for
heart problems and anaemia at a clinic in the West Bank town of
Turkumiya July 29, 2002. Excerpts released from a new U.S. Agency for
International Development (USAID) report say that malnutrition is
widespread among Palestinian children and that many rural Palestinians,
who live surrounded by Israeli army closures, do not have adequate
access to medical care. The report is due to be released in full on
