AN IRAQI WOMAN CRIES AS SHE WATCHES CEREMONY AT AL-SHALAMCHA BORDER
An Iraqi woman cries as she watches a ceremony held at al-Shalamcha
border with Iran October 29,2002. The ceremony was held to exchange the
remains of Iraqi and Iranian soldiers killed during the 1980-88 war, at
al-Shalamcha border town, Basra province, 550 km south of Baghdad. An
estimated one million Iraqis and Iranians were killed in the war.
