ISRAELI PEACE NOW MOVEMENT DEMONSTRATE OUTSIDE PRIME MINISTER SHARON'S JERUSALEM RESIDENCE.
Israelis attend a demonstration by the Israeli Peace Now movement outside Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's Jerusalem residence June 5, 2004 to demand an Israeli withdrawl from the Gaza Strip. An Israeli cabinet member trying to save Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's government from collapse said on Saturday she still hoped to reach a last-minute compromise with dissident ministers over his Gaza pullout plan. Sharon fired two ministers belonging to the far-right National Union on Friday, ensuring at least an 11-10 majority in the cabinet when it votes on the U.S.-backed plan to remove all 21 Jewish settlements in Gaza and four of 120 in the West Bank.
