A prison in Kengtung is shown through a fence January 15, where 26-year-old Briton James Mawdsley is serving a 17-year sentence after being caught illegally in Myanmar distributing leaflet calling for democracy and human rights. Mawdsley has been cheered by the news that a school he dreams of rebuilding for refugees from military rule could soon become a reality after an anonymous donation pledged US$12,232 to rebuild the school that was burnt to the ground during a Myanmar offensive in 1997, his mother in England said.
