A youth takes a "selfie" as she takes part in a cosplay competition at Saya San Plaza in Yangon August 3, 2014. Shut off from the rest of the world for 50 years after the military junta took control of the country in 1962, Myanmar's increasingly daring youth are making up for lost time. Increasingly popular with young people here is cosplay, hugely popular in Japan for several decades. The phenomenon is winning over a growing number of young Myanmar citizens who entranced by the colourful costumes of popular Japanese anime and manga, with hundreds coming out dressed as their favourite characters.
