President George W. Bush is applauded by foreign ministers of the seven
nations approved by the U.S. Senate to join NATO, at the White House in
Washington, May 8, 2003. The senate voted 96-0 to add Latvia,
Lithuania, Estonia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Romania to NATO.
Foreign ministers from left are Kristiina Ojuland of Estonia, Mircea
