NEPAL'S FORMER PRIME MINISTER SHER BAHADUR DEUBA ATTENDS A MEETING IN
KATHMANDU.
Nepal's former prime minister, Sher Bahadur Deuba, attends a meeting of
the Nepali Congress party's Central Working Committee in Kathmandu July
20, 2001. The meeting was called to decide on a new leader who would be
appointed by King Gyanendra as the Himalayan kingdom's eleventh prime
minister in as many years, after Girija Parasad Koirala resigned July
19 over a growing insurgency by Maoist rebels. Deuba has been named a
likely successor.
