Nigerian soldiers patrol the streets of Kaduna, nothern Nigeria February 22. Rioting between Christians and Moslems demanding Islamic law started on February 21. More than forty people have died as a result of the violence. The violence which erupted on Monday was a reminder of the fragility of Africa's most populous nation, whose long-term survival has been repeatedly called into question since the return of civilian rule last year.
