The coroner's report on Eugene Simons is displayed at his sister's house in Bryansford, County Down November 10, 2014. Simons disappeared on January 1, 1981 aged 26. His body was recovered three years later on May 24, 1984 in a bog at Knockbridge, Dundalk. The IRA admitted killing 13 of the 16 classified as "disappeared" in the 1970s and 80s, mostly Catholics accused of collaborating with British forces, while the Irish National Liberation Army admitted one. No one has taken responsibility for the other two, or two more who went missing after 1998. Several of the bodies have never been found and, like for the vast majority of the victims of Northern Ireland's "Troubles", none of the crimes have been solved and the perpetrators remain unpunished. The families of the Disappeared are frustrated that Northern Ireland appears so reluctant to investigate its past.
