South Korean President Kim Dae-Jung addresses a news conference in Oslo December 9, 2000. Kim won the Nobel Peace Prize for his drive to improve ties with Stalinist North Korea and so defuse a final flashpoint of the Cold War. Kim and North Korean leader Kim Jong-il held an historic June summit in the North Korean capital Pyongyang.
