Turkish riot policemen gather in front of the German Fountain, built in 19th century in the old part of Istanbul, November 16 as they wait for the arrival of U.S. President Bill Clinton after his sightseeing visit to the Blue Mosque and St. Sophia. Turkish police took strict security measures ahead of the European security and cooperation summit to be held in this palace on November 17-19. U.S. President Bill Clinton, Russian President Yeltsin and all the heads of states from Europe are expected to attend the last summit of the millennium.
