10-year-old Mohd Ismael, suffering from Crimea-Congo Haemorragic fever, lies in the isolation ward of the Fatima Jinnah Chest Hospital in Baluchistan's capital of Quetta October 5, 2001. The Crimea-Congo disease is carried by livestock ticks, and humans are vulnerable when they live in proximity to herds of sheep or goats. The virus is spread through urine, stools, blood or saliva and the symptoms are nose-bleeds, bleeding from the rectum, even bleeding through the skin. Since June, 64 cases have been reported and seven people have died.
