VETERAN U.S. SHIP MAKE FINAL PANAMA CANAL TRIP.
The USS New Jersey pulled by a tug boat makes it's last trip thru the Panama Canal October 18. U.S. and Panamanian dignitaries on Sunday paid tribute to the USS New Jersey, the U.S. fleet's most decorated battleship, on the eve of its farewell transit of the Panama Canal. The veteran of 10 crossings dating back 55 years is being towed to retirement as a floating museum in its namesake state just two months before the Panama Canal reverts from U.S. to Panamanian control. al/Photo by Alberto Lowe.
