Victoria Ochante, 65, stands outside her home at 4 a.m. before making her way out to collect recyclable materials in the shanty town of Ticlio Chico in Villa Maria del Triunfo on the outskirts of Lima, March 2, 2012. Ochante came from the highlands of Ayacucho about 30 years ago and has been trying to make a living the past year by recycling garbage. She hopes to make enough money by collecting bottles, cans and other recyclable objects so that she can get a gynecological operation. Older adults especially women, who do not have retirement plans, are forced to develop strategies for survival, otherwise they will be economically dependent and socially vulnerable, according to The National Institute of Statistics and Information. Women in Peru will observe International Women's Day on March 8. Picture taken March 2, 2012. REUTERS/Mariana Bazo (PERU - Tags: SOCIETY POVERTY HEALTH)
