A vicuna is sheared by farmers at a corral in the Pampa Galeras National Reserve, in the Andean highlands of Ayacucho, June 24, 2005. Farmers round up the protected wild animals, a delicate relative of llamas and alpacas, to shear their highly prized wool during the "Chaccu", a traditional ceremony where people cut the vicuna's wool. Farmers, the government and conservationists are trying to save the animal from black market poachers, who have been shooting and shearing the vicuna for its valuable hair.
