A charcoal collector takes a rest in a slum area in Manila
A charcoal collector takes a rest in a slum area in Manila June 2, 2009. Nearby slum dwellers rely on selling charcoal for 300 pesos ($6) per sack, which they make from discarded wood collected form a nearby dumpsite, as a main source of income. The slum dwellers, however, risk losing this source of income as the area used to make charcoal is slated to be demolished to make way for a port extension.
