FRENCH COUPLE TREATED BY FILIPINO DOCTOR IN JOLO.
A Filipino doctor (out of picture) gives French couple Stephane Loisy (C) and Sonya Wendling (R) medicine in a shack on Jolo Island in the southern Philippines May 1. Three journalists from international news organizations were allowed by the fundamentalist Abu Sayyaf group to accompany the Filipino doctor to see their 21 captives. The hostages were taken to Jolo after Moslem fundamentalist rebels, who are fighting for an independent Moslem homeland in the southern Philippines, seized them on April 23 on the Malaysian resort island of Sipadan.
