FILIPINO HOUSEWIVES BURN HEART-SHAPED PLACARDS AT US EMBASSY IN MANILA.
Filipino housewives burn heart-shaped placards February 14 while shouting slogans opposing the holding of largescale military exercises in the Philippines between United States and Philippine troops. The peaceful protest was held outside the U.S. Embassy in Manila to coincide with Valentine's Day. The group opposed military links between Manila and Washington, saying it could drag the Philippines into involvement with U.S. conflicts in other countries.
