Cardinals gathered in St. Peter's Basilica attend a solemn mass held by Pope John Paul II which closes a three-day extraordinary consistory May 24, 2001. More than 150 of the globes 183 cardinals converged in the Vatican for the consistory meeting, whose theme is Pastoral Perspectives of the Church in the Third Millennium.
