Portuguese Socialist Party leader Ferro Rodrigues shows his ballot in
the general elections March 17, 2002. Polls published on Friday
indicated the centre-right Social Democrats, headed by former foreign
minister Jose Manuel Durao Barroso, would finish just ahead of the
Socialists, led by Eduardo Ferro Rodrigues. Voting ends at 1900 GMT and
exit poll predictions are expected immediately afterwards.
