A postcard stamped with the Portuguese North Atlantic Selvagens islands logo is seen in North Atlantic Selvagens islands December 5, 2006. Portugal no longer sends its sailors abroad to claim new lands but relies on a state-owned mailbox to mark control over its last colony - a set of barren islands in the Atlantic Ocean. The park rangers who inhabit the Savage Islands hardly ever use the "Mail of Portugal" box, and certainly it is of little interest to the monk seals basking on the islands' shores. But Portuguese authorities believe its presence is enough to deter Spanish fishermen from trawling the surrounding waters. Picture taken December 5, 2006. REUTERS/Marcos Borga (PORTUGAL)
