PASSENGER WALKS BY MAIN ENTRANCE OF LISBON'S RAILWAY STATION.
Passenger walks by main the entrance of Lisbon's railway station of St
Apolonia as the departure and arrival bilboard announces all trains are
cancelled December 10, 2002. Striking Portuguese workers halted public
transport and hampered other services on Tuesday in a national stoppage
called to protest against proposed labour law changes. Train, subway,
ferry and bus services in Portugal's biggest cities, including the
capital Lisbon, were halted. Hundreds of thousands of commuters jammed
streets and highways or hiked to work as they struggled to deal with
the shutdown. REUTERS/Jose Manuel Ribeiro
