A sign reading "The Dracula Park Will Be Constructed Here, The Tourism
Ministry" marks the spot where Romanian authorities had planned a
Dracula theme park near the Transylvanian city of Sighisoara (300km
north of Bucharest), Vlad the Impaler's birthplace. Western consultants
have shot down the plan, saying Bucharest would be a better location
for the park and handing a victory to conservationists who said the
touristy park was a threat to the historic city, a World Heritage Site.
