A LETTER BEARING ROMANIAN SPECIAL COMMEMORATIVE POSTAGE STAMP TO MARK
THE FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM.
A letter bearing the Romania's special commemorative postage stamp is
shown March 22, 2002 to mark its solidarity with the United States in
President George W. Bush's "War on terrorism". The launch of the stamp,
which features the Statue of Liberty and detail from a gate built by
Romania's most famous sculptor Constantin Brancusi, is accompanied by
1,000 special first day covers bearing the slogan "United we Stand".
Romania hopes to be admitted to NATO in November and has been at pains
to stress its support for the U.S. since the September 11 attacks.
