Dutch Princess Maxima Zorreguieta (2L) and Crown Prince Willem Alexander (3L) visit the ship, "Duyfken" ("Little Dove"), after it arrived in the harbour of Oudeschild, on the island Texel about 90 km north of Amsterdam, April 28, 2002. The original Duyfken was the first recorded ship to visit [Australia] in 1606. After leaving [Australia] on May 5, 2001, the 20 metre long replica vessel arrived in the Netherlands to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the VOC (United East India Company). Using the same historic route as the original Duyfken, the replica entered Oudeschild where it would have been reprovisioned 400 years ago to tackle the spice voyage to [Indonesia.]
