Engineers work on a GLONASS-K space navigation satellite in the assembling area of the Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems company in the Siberian town of Zheleznogorsk, 50 km (31 miles) northeast of Krasnoyarsk, October 4, 2011. The Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) is a Russian satellite navigation system similar to the GPS of the U.S., designed to serve for military and civil purposes.
