Russian actor Pyotr Mamonov watches a scene on set of Pavel Lungin's movie Ivan the Terrible and Metropolitan Philip in the ancient town of Suzdal some 220 km (136.7 miles) northeast of Moscow March 20, 2008. Mamonov, a former Rock musician turned devout Orthodox Christian, plays Ivan the Terrible in Lugin's latest film that is centred around the battle between power and moral, the director said on Thursday. The movie portraits the 16th century ruthless autocrat, the first Russian ruler to assume the title of tsar, as he is pitched against Metropolitan Philip, a humanitarian authority and the only notable figure that dared to openly criticise Ivan's bloody excesses.
