A woman watches as a Southern Right Whale surfaces to breathe at Rocklands Bay in Cape Town
A woman watches as a Southern Right Whale surfaces to breathe at Rocklands Bay in Cape Town July 13, 2010. The Southern Right Whales are the most frequently seen whales along the Cape peninsula and may be seen just metres from the shore. The whales start to arrive in the bay from June and remain in the region until the end of November where the sheltered bays of the South African coast provide a perfect refuge to mate and calve.
