Africa's top artists stage anti-malaria concert.
Senegalese superstar Youssou N'Dour hugs British entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson backstage at 'Africa Live', a two day anti-malaria concert held in the Senegalese capital Dakar, March 12, 2005. Africa's top musicians, led by N'Dour, Salif Keita and Baaba Maal, gathered at the weekend in a United Nations-sponsored campaign to fight malaria, a mosquito-borne disease that kills a child every 30 seconds on the African continent, or one million people per year, most of them under age five. Branson, the chairman of Virgin Atlantic Airways, met with UN officials in Dakar to find ways to help combat malaria. Photo taken March 12. REUTERS/Olivier de Pins FOR/WS
