CHILD AMPUTEES WAIT FOR A VISIT BY CANADIAN FOREIGN MINISTER.
Child amputees waiting for a visit by Canadaian Foreign Affairs Minister Lloyd Axworthy in Freetown April 29. Axworthy visited the amputees' camp and met with war-affected children, including former child soldiers, amputees and abducted girls. Axworthy is using the first-ever visit by a Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister to Sierra Leone to assess the challenges facing the country in the aftermath of an eight-year civil war. Axworthy is on a tour of Sierra Leone and the United Kingdom from April 29 to May 3.
