Japanese master Ukiyo-e (woodblock) carver Shoichi Kitamura is seen working during the media-only preview of Wilson Shieh's "Music Families," organized by the Singapore Tyler Print Institute (STPI) in Singapore January 9, 2009. Kitamura was hired to take Shieh's traditional Chinese gongbi-styled artwork, inspired by Japanese Ukiyo-e works, and translate it into Ukiyo-e woodblock carvings for print. Shieh's artwork, portrayals of human figures as delicate instruments of music, also underline Ukiyo-e's historical associations with sensuality, according to the event organizer. The exhibition runs from January 10 to 31. REUTERS/Rina Ota (SINGAPORE)
