Worshippers rush to place joss sticks at the Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho temple in Singapore
Worshippers rush to place joss sticks at the Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho temple in Singapore February 9, 2013. Worshippers gather annually at the temple on the eve of the Lunar New Year with hopes to be the first person to offer joss sticks when the clock strikes midnight. It is believed this brings prosperity and luck. The Lunar New Year, or Spring Festival, begins on February 10 and marks the start of the Year of the Snake, according to the Chinese zodiac.
